New Monolithic Records signing Odyssey unveil playthrough of new track
The ancient greeks were fond of their myths, and more so their hereos: Perseus and Medusa; the twelve Labours of Heracles; Theseus and the Minotaur. They worshipped these god amongst men, and told tales of their exploits for generatons. Many endure today, and for good reason.
But one of the most enduring stories belongs to Odysseus, the king who fought for ten years to bring home a captured princess, and then spent another decade trying to get home.
The Odyssey is a tale of peril – of gods and monsters; of magic and mystery – and it is from this story we get the famous sirens; creatures whose delicate and seductive songs draw unwitting sailors, enamoured, onto rocks.
Well, up anchor and set sail, friend, because much like these seductive sea-witches, Washingtonian instrumental trio ODYSSEY are about to return with their fifth release and lure you to their misty shores. In doing so, they are joining up with Monolithic Records coven, and we couldn’t be happier to have them on board. Or off board. Whatever the correct nautical term is.
On the union, bassist Jordan Hilker said:
“We are very excited to be teaming up with Monolithic Records. It’s been years of hard work and until now it has been done with the DIY mindset. Joining Monolithic Records seemed like the next logical step for us, we’re excited for the future and the possibilities that await us.”
We’re pleased to also announce the impending release of Odyssey’s brand new EP The Turning Tide, which will be out November 4th. The tracklisting will be as follows:
01. The Devil’s In The Details
02. The Turning Tide
03. The Machine Stops
04. Quietly Waiting
By way of celebration, the band have recorded and released a playthrough video for track 1, “The Devil’s In The Details“:
