Statues’ brand new video – UK premiere
Statues come in all shapes and sizes – from those miniature pencil lead carvings to The Colossus of Rhodes or the Statue of Liberty in New York – but it is said the best, despite being totally still, retain a sense of movement.
Being immobile certainly isn’t something of which Aussie quintet Statues could be accused. Mixing the kinetic dynamism, angular aggression and musical nous of bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Chariot and letlive., the band are soon to release their debut album Together We’re Alone, and we’re very pleased to be premiering their brand new video for “Oh Precious Commodity” – check it out:
If you’re familiar with Aussie prog group Voyager, who we covered recently in Camden, you may see a face you recognise: guitarist Scott Kay is in both groups, but they couldn’t be much more different.
I’ve been lucky enough to hear the entire album, and it’s pretty much a musical smack round the chops. It almost stole my lunch money, in fact. Nerd.
“Oh Precious Commodity” is available to buy as a single now from iTunes, whilst Together We’re Alone is due out January 9th via Highland Records & Management. Statues are due to support the imitable Every Time I Die and Touché Amoré at their forthcoming show on Wednesday 14th January at Amplifier in Perth
