Season 4 of HBO’s Game Of Thrones starts ramping up with 14-minute teaser
As you might have guessed from our coverage of last season, we quite enjoy Game Of Thrones here are The Monolith. many of us watch it, some have even read the book series in its currently (and agonisingly) unfinished form, and I think we can all agree that’s it’s a) quite popular and b) probably quite good.
With season 4 on the very near horizon (just under eight weeks, now), HBO have started hyping things up, a process which has been continued with an epic 14 minute teaser called Ice And Fire: A Foreshadowing. That’s quite a generous teaser, given how long such things normally are, but they do have a lot of characters to get through. Don’t worry though;
most some of them will die this season; we guarantee it.
I’ve always been impressed with how the show and network handles their promotion. The actors are always very open and accessible, and it’s great to see especially the younger actors grow with the show. This teaser is no different.
Season 4 of course handles the second half of A Song Of Ice And Fire‘s third book, A Storm Of Swords. After the bloody and upsetting events of last season, Westeros is still reeling, and things are not going to let up. As showrunner David Benioff says:
“What makes this season different is that things really start to get going much more quickly.”
There’s a host of new characters (including fan favourite Oberyn Martell, prince of the so far unrepresented seventh kingdom Dorne), and some of them get screen time in the various interviews, answering fan-asked questions, alongside series regulars like Kit Harrington, Peter Dinklage, Maisie Williams and Emilia Clarke.
Here’s the video in full; let us know what you think!
Also, in somewhat related music news, Sigur Rós will be featured in some way or another this season. Hoo boy! If a band from Iceland don’t embody the frozoned northlands, then we don’t know what does!
