Ever been suffering from extreme thirst during the hot summer and thought the solution would be a nice lukewarm Rockstar Energy Drink or a grossly overpriced bottle of water? If the answer to that is an overwhelming yes and you’d like to spend an afternoon/evening checking out a metal festival then you’re in luck; the 2013 lineup for the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival has been announced!

For the first time in Mayhem’s history, the festival will feature four stages: the Rockstar Energy Drink Main Stage, the Jägermeister Stage, the Musicians Institute Stage, and the Sumerian/Headbang for the Highway Concourse Stage. The last of those will mainly be comprised of local acts to each stop on the tour, whilst the mainstays of the tour will consist of Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Mastodon, Amon Amarth, Machine Head, Job For A Cowboy, Butcher Babies, Battlecross, Huntress, Children Of Bodom, Behemoth, Emmure, Born Of Osiris, Motionless In White, Thrown Into Exile, and City In The Sea.

Looking at this lineup again reminds me of how hit or miss Mayhem can be with its choices. I won’t mention any names out of respect but some bands I would be super jazzed about seeing while others I wouldn’t necessarily care about or, even worse, would avidly not want to see. I’m of the opinion that 2009′s lineup (FYI, I try to steer away from Wikipedia as much as humanly possible but I can verify that this info is correct) will never be topped. I would love to be proven wrong on that but I haven’t seen any serious competitors since.

The tour will be starting its trek of the U.S. in late June and will go through early August. Be sure to check out our events calendar as those dates should be posted soon!

Excited for Mayhem? Could you care less? Any bands in particular that you think would make this bill better? Go crazy in the comments!
