Enforcer are a Swedish metal outfit who play a blistering brand of trad metal revival, using full speed riffing, machine gun leads, and intense vocals. Their last album, 2010’s Diamonds, was one my my absolute favourites from the year, and still gets heavy rotation in my library. On March 5th, their new album Death By Fire will be unleashed to the world on Nuclear Blast, but due to the kindness of the metal gods, you can listen to it ahead of time. It is being streamed in full over at Terrorizer.
I was a little worried they wouldn’t be able to follow up Diamonds, but it took only ten seconds into the first song to shove my worries back down my throat. As I write this, I’m only on my first listen, so I can’t really compare it too much to their previous works, but it definitely seems to be another solid outing for the young Swedes. Vocalist Olaf Wikstrand hasn’t lost any of his passion and fire, and his guitar work along with other guitarist Joseph Tholi, is as steel tipped as ever.
Rotting Christ are a legendary black metal group from Greece who are gearing up to release their next album, Kata Ton Daimonia Eaytoy, in March. I’ve already reviewed the album here, and thought it was excellent. Now you have a chance to see part of what I was talking about, as they have released the title track for streaming, in addition to the song that was released in December. The title track was one of my favourites from the album, so you’re in luck with this one. It’s dark, doomy, and pummeling, just the way Rotting Christ should be.
