Since Sacramento is only five blocks long, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the guys in the Deftones’ and I are totally bros. We live in the same city, drive on the same street, occasionally eat at the same restaurants, breathe the same air, and sometimes we probably both miss our exits on the freeway BECAUSE CAL-TRANS CAN’T KEEP A FREEWAY SHUTDOWN SCHEDULE TO SAVE THEIR GODDAMN SKINS.
However, I was a little disappointed when my best friends decided to overlook my new site in favour of one more established and gave them the album stream of their new disc Koi No Yokan, which means something in some language…I’m sure of it. I think they must’ve heard that I’m not the hugest fan of the releases between White Pony and Diamond Eyes. They sure can hold a grudge. When I called them though, they did say I could totally link to the new album stream over at RollingStone, which is totally awesome on it’s own for the five or six people that hadn’t heard that the album was streaming over there yet.
Full disclosure: I have not heard the new record yet, but I have liked the two songs that came out prior to it. Everyone seems to be saying it’s one of their best, but everybody says that about every album until the shiny new feeling wears off. If, however, they continue the trend that they started on Diamond Eyes, they may have completely fucked any top albums of the year list in the works.
