Listen to Prosanctus Inferi’s infernal new album Noctambulous Jaws Within Sempiternal Night in full!
The band with one of the most unreadable logos in all of black metal has returned. The bestial combination of black and death metal that American band Prosanctus Inferi spew forth is a horrific display of darkness and chaos. Their debut in 2010, Pandemonic Ululations of Vesperic Palpitations, garnered notable attention in the extreme black metal genre known as war metal. Now signed to a new record label, the band have birthed from the womb of chaos a new album. Titled Noctambulous Jaws Within Sempiternal Night, was recently made available to stream on the Nuclear War Now Bandcamp page.
The new album is heavy as fuck, and nightmarishly evil to boot. The way “Gestation Within The Lunar Miasmic Envelope” opens, with a slower brooding riff, hints at the doom that awaits within, before launching head first into deep abyssal riffs and demonic vocals. With song titles such as “Seminal Moon Born Orgy of Birth” it’s pretty clear what you’ll be getting from this.
The drums are pounding and relentless, and Jake Kohn’s vocals are abrasive and infernal, but also surprisingly come through quite clearly, given the kind of sound this genre can be known for. In fact, for a style where the production trends towards really murky, Prosanctus Inferi are a refreshing break from that, with clear production without being overpolished. Other bands take note, THIS is how it should sound.
Also, can I talk about that awesome artwork? It reminds me a bit of Blasphemophagher’s The III Command of Absolute Chaos (another great war metal entry, by the way) in terms of colour and design, which makes sense since the bands are labelmates.
Noctambulous Jaws Within Sempiternal Night was released on August 21st, through Nuclear War Now Productions.
