Stream Murdock’s theorem-worrying journey into experimental mathematics: Dead Lung is out now

It is said that the longer you wait for something, the sweeter is becomes when you finally get it. Irish noise-urchins Murdock have been teasing their new album Dead Lung for nearly two years, but delays of various kinds have meant its release has been pushed back considerably. I almost hyped myself up about it too much, without hearing more than a couple of songs, but my faith was rewarded: it’s a phenomenal piece of work and almost a perfect example of technical hardcore.

You can read the official review for a full summary, but suffice to say, if you like your riffs rambunctious and a boisterous furrow to the brow, this album is an absolute must-buy.

You don’t just have to take our word for it though; Dead Lung is streaming in full via Bandcamp, and you can listen via the handy player below. Keep your calculators and protractors handy, and maybe dig out that A-level maths textbook you used to prop up your lava lamp.

If you’re still alive and breathing after that, congratulations. More than just a slice of gurning fury, Dead Lung handles genre shifts and a swirling maelstrom of battling time signatures, whilst paying reverence to the likes of Converge and The Dillinger Escape Plan with humbling acuity.

Dead Lung is out now via Basick Records. The trio will be out on the road with Monuments and labelmates No Consequence towards the end of next month; full dates below!
