American prog metal heavyweights Between The Buried And Me tap Brits Haken for European tour support
Between The Buried And Me recently started kicking the old PR train into gear after announcing their forthcoming sixth album Coma Ecliptic. A fantastic new song called “Memory Palace“ was put up the Friday before last, and as expected the North Carolinians will be making a run around North America with Animals As Leaders and The Contortionist in support, starting on the album’s release date of July 7th.
They’ll get maybe a month off after that ends in August, before heading off on today’s newly-announced European run with British types Haken, a rapidly rising force in the prog world.
They’ll be on the first 14 of the 21-date expedition, parting ways after Euroblast festival, which they’ll play with the likes of Leprous, Devil Sold His Soul and Destrage.
Haken’s members have expressed a great deal of excitement at the proposition. Drummer Ray Hearne said “It’s a seriously surreal thought to be offered a tour support slot with one of my favourite bands from my youth and one that had a real impact on my musical development”, whilst bassist Conner Green added “Between the Buried and Me has been one of my favorite bands since their 2007 release “Colors”. Dan Briggs’ approach to bass playing hugely inspired me when I was learning bass in high school, especially his virtuosic playing on “Viridian”. I could never have imagined I’d be playing on the same stage as BTBAM, let alone supporting them on an international tour. Needless to say, this is an absolute dream come true, and I can’t wait to see them slay on this tour!”
It’s a damn neat line-up for sure. You can catch them together in the UK, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany, with Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland having to settle for the headliner only.
