Between The Buried And Me premiere first video from Coma Ecliptic

Whenever Between The Buried And Me produce a music video, they must think “aww fuck, did we have to write another 8-minute song?”. Filming and production costs soar. Label management scowl. But fuck it; it’s always worth it.

As with the first track they premiered from their new album Coma Ecliptic – that was “Memory Palace, if your mind needs refreshing – the band’s newest song is another winding prog piece; not quite as long, but still longer than most grind records.

Still, if you’re going to make things difficult for yourself, you may as well go the whole hog and make it extra impressive. The video for “The Coma Palace” is one continuously shot piece – or at least it appears to be. Like a mini version of last year’s Iñárritu masterpiece Birdman, the process hides several clever transitions; an absolute necessity if the cast, crew and director didn’t want to spend weeks refilming the many moving parts of this awesome piece every time someone fucked up.

So, without further lilly-gilding, here it is:

What the hell any of it means – the poltergeist-like activities; the appearance of Frances The Mute’s sack-headed cousin; the table of photos – we’re not yet sure, but it’s compelling, and more importantly, hype-inducing.

Coma Ecliptic is out in North America on July 7th, and worldwide from July 10th, via Metal Blade Records. Between The Buried And Me are playing a lot of places this year, so check the below list to see if any of those places are you, and you might be rewarded.
