Hurricane Sandy was pretty bad, huh? We got some news of it over here in the UK, but not as much as in America I’ll wager. The big ol’ bitch caused billions of dollars of damage, and people are still flooded/without power/struggling, which obviously sucks big time.

Philadelphian outfit Circa Survive - not the most metal of bands, but a firm personal favourite nevertheless – and various related acts are doing their part to help, and have released a 5-track EP, from which all of the proceeds will go to helping those struggling in Sandy’s wake.

Amongst the tracks on the EP are previously unreleased b-sides from Circa Survive and Psychic Babble (guitarist Colin Frangicetto’s solo project), plus remixes of frontman Anthony Green’s solo songs “When I’m On Pills” and “Get Yours While You Can“, and an instrumental song by Circa’s other guitarist Brendan Ekstrom.

The EP actually ties in pretty closely with the band’s newest album, this year’s Violent Waves - the imagery of stormy seas carrying over from the LP to this EP.

You can get the Hurricane Sandy Benefit EP from Bandcamp here for $4, or $1 per song – or donate more, should you wish. It’s a pretty good cause, so I’d heartily recommend it. Several of our own writers were in the storm’s path, and whilst they’re all okay, I’m sure they’d appreciate the sentiment for their fellow east-coasters.
