Pennsylvanian four-piece Code Orange Kids are, for all intents and purposes, just that: kids. The average age of the band is just eighteen, and in fact they first started their journey together four years ago. I’m no fogey myself, but their age makes it all the more impressive that this young band penned a deal with the almighty Deathwish Inc. in January this year, and are now on the brink of releasing their debut label full-length this month. They’ve certainly not hung about with honing their craft, and it’s a fine record.

Recorded and produced by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou at his famous Godcity Studio, Love Is Love // Return To Dust is exactly the kind of organic hardcore album that we often find is missing in this age of ultra-sleek, mega-compressed bedroom prog. Aggressive, fast-paced and coarse, the band yelp, bash and fret their way around ten songs, sounding like the bastard child of Ampere and pageninetynine.

The album is currently being streamed over at Brooklyn Vegan, and for something more immediate you can watch the video for the record’s opening track ‘Flowermouth (The Leech)‘ below!

Code Orange Kids have spent most of this year touring hard, and the final quarter is no different: they’ll be hitting the road with GAZA and Full Of Hell starting next week! Tour dates are in our very own events calendar, a feature which you should definitely check out.
