British ambient post-hardcore act Devil Sold His Soul have gone from strength to strength in recent years, and September 2012 saw them release their third album Empire Of Light to rapturous applause (indeed, it was honoured on my year-end list), which upped the bar for empassioned music with massive riffs. Seriously; you could bounce a Brontosaurus off these things.
2013 looks set to start well for them. They’ve just released this new video for the track “VIII“, which is fairly standard performance fodder, but takes the live route as opposed to the staple abandoned warehouse/desert/forest/far-East sweatshop approach, so you get a pretty good idea of what their live show is like…
…which is handy, because they’re about to go on a short run as guests of fellow British bastions Sylosis (like we need to tell you again why we love those guys)! The dates are available in our events calendar, and your favourite editorial team will be attending the London date on January 24th, which will also feature Chimp Spanner. This will be the seventh time I’ve seen them in the past few years, which if you trust my judgement (why wouldn’t you?!) should also be an indicator as to the band’s quality.
See you down there!
