Here’s a new video from The Dillinger Escape Plan!
Okay, hold your horses – yes, it’s new content from The Dillinger Escape Plan, but it’s for a two year-old song.
As if TDEP need an excuse to do whatever the fuck they want, but it’s kind of a strange move to put out a video so long after the release of their last album – good as it was. Nevertheless, “Paranoia Shields” is the third and final clip to be produced for One Of Us Is The Killer, and is most likely a tool to push their forthcoming summer activities.
Directed by long-time Dillinger friend Mitch Massey – who also made the horror show that is the video for “When I Lost My Bet“ (with which I’ve scared many a colleague) - it looks a little something like this:
Stylistically, it’s definitely in keeping with the other clip he’s directed. There’s a fantastic level of detail – a real piece of artwork, even if it’s a little graphic. In an interview with Bearded Gentlemen Music a couple of years ago, guitarist Ben Weinman said “He’s almost like a visual counter part to our music. He just gets it.”, which is a brilliant asset to have at your disposal.
If you need refreshing, the other DEP video from this cycle was for the title track.
I’d hate to jinx them by surmising there might be new music on the horizon, so I’ll simply refresh your memories that The Dillinger Escape Plan will be on the road this summer, playing both Hevy Fest and ArcTanGent in the space of a week, as well as some dates somewhat sooner with Cave In/Converge side project Mutoid Man and Primitive Weapons. Date as follows:
6/16 – Washington, DC @ Rock & Roll Hotel
6/17 – Philadelphia, PA @ Union Transfer w/ Rosetta
6/18 – Boston, MA @ Royale Nightclub
6/20 – New York, NY @ Irving Plaza
