F·O·E·S release second video from new EP Antecedence
Hopefully you caught our recent post on brand new UK label Crooked Noise Records. Whether you did or you didn’t, it’s worth recapping that the label, launched last month, opened its doors with four newly-signed acts, promising records from each before the year was out.
My pick of the bunch – through familiarity alone – was F·O·E·S, a band I knew by name but not reputation, until I saw them absolutely crush The Unicorn in Camden, playing a set of songs both old and new. I didn’t know it then, but those songs – including “Rival Thrones” – were to form part of their new EP Antecedence, which is due out via Crooked Noise next month.
The bearded Liverpudlians have come back around for another salvo with this new video for “No Sleepers Verse“, the EP’s closing number. Have a look:
Frontman Chris Mackrill has spoken fairly candidly about the record, saying “We’ve tried to be as honest as possible with the new EP. I hate it when music isn’t about anything in particular, it winds me up.” This track in particular is a story of a friend caught in a toxic relationship:
It’s hard to say that to a mate though, so the first verse of the song is what I wanted to say to him. The rest of the song is me writing from his perspective about what I thought was going through his mind – I’m not sure if I nailed it, you’ll have to ask him!
It’s a cracking listen too – we highly recommend picking up a copy. Antecedence will be released 10th July via Crooked Noise Records. Get pre-ordering here and receive an immediate download of “No Sleepers Verse“, and make sure to catch their early afternoon set at UK Tech Fest on Sunday 12th April, as well as the following June dates:
