Get your hands on FOES’ new track “Heike” for sweet F-A
FOES. We’ve banged on about them quite a lot in the last year or so since first seeing them tear Camden’s The Unicorn a new one. A second, stunning EP called Antecedence cemented our love, and we were beyond excited to see them sign for one of our favourite progressive labels, Basick Records, earlier in 2016, with the promise of a debut full-length before the end of the year.
So it kind of goes without saying that we jumped at the opportunity to premiere a new song from the Liverpudlian quartet; a second slice of what’s to come from the album after “Beautiful Fiction” – and to offer you sexy types a free download of it.
It’s called “Heike“, and here’s a bit about it in their own words:
“Heike” came about when we first began writing material with an album in mind. It’s actually a complete rework of an unreleased song from Chris and Josh’s old band, and barely recognisable if you hear the original version! As time went on, “Heike” started to become quite removed from everything else that was coming out of those writing sessions. It had a really different character to the other tracks, but we still wanted to give it a platform to be heard. In hindsight, it’s very much a transitional song. A logical follow on from our last EP and a precursor to a new sound.
Of course, it’s FOES-y, but speaking with frontman Chris Mackrill a few months ago, it was clear that there’s a real vision and intent behind the album – it’s going to be a really cohesive piece of work – so they’re having to be ruthless about what makes the final record.
If it means we’re getting shit-hot freebies though, who are we to complain? I’ll fight the first cunt that does.
FOES have just announced they’ll be playing Tramlines Festival on the City Hall stage on Saturday 23rd July alongside the wonderful Black Peaks, Shining and Nordic Giants, joining dates at ArcTanGent and Throwfest on the weekend of August 20th/21st respectively.
Details on the album itself when its announced!
