U.S. metalcore giants are a Hevy Fest exclusive in the UK this summer
Hevy Fest, one pf the UK’s best up-and-coming summer metal festivals, announced a huge coup today with the news that Killswitch Engage will be headlining their Sunday evening main stage – and that this is a UK exclusive.
The American metalcore giants, who are currently on tour across Europe with our boys Sylosis, reunited with their original vocalist Jesse Leach last year, and released their new album Disarm The Descent at the beginning of this month through Roadrunner Records.
Understandably, a lot of fans have been pretty excited by this reunion. Alive Or Just Breathing, Jesse’s last album before he left the band in 2002, is considered a genre classic, and the band have a huge status regardless, so this is a big deal for the festival, which celebrates its fifth birthday this year.
It’s been growing steadily in stature – last year saw Converge, Deaf Havana, Glassjaw and Andrew W.K. headlining, with The Dillinger Escape Plan, Architects and The Bronx featuring the year before – so it’s great to see the tradition continued. There’s usually quite a strong emphasis on the ‘core genres, with metalcore and hardcore at the fore of those, so this announcement is a great fit.
That’s not all though folks; some other additions announced today, taking the current roster up to forty (of a proposed eighty), include Earthone9, whose new album IV was thoroughly enjoyed by Neotenic, Eyehategod, Coliseum and Raein, who join the likes of Black Flag, Hatebreed, Bossk, EP brothers Code Orange Kids and Tigers Jaw, Circle Takes The Square and many more. Full line-up so far is on the poster above, and more details will be forthcoming soon from the main website or the Facebook page.
Tickets are just shy of £100, and the whole thing takes place in this wicked wildlife park. Metal and gorillas; what more could you want?!
