Carach Angren begin work on their next full length album

Carach Angren

Carach Angren has announced that the writing and pre-production phase of their next full length album is complete. The band will be entering the studio soon to begin the recording process.

A word of advice for anyone unfamiliar with the group’s previous work; you should acquaint yourself immediately. I have been following this band since they started out and can attest to the fact that they are capable of composing absolute masterpieces. For fans of symphonic black metal, these guys should be at the top of your list. This will be Carach Angren’s fourth full length release.

While there is little information available at this point, based on the band’s history, it promises to be pleasing for any fans of horror, or the macabre. All of their previous full length releases are concept albums, and Carach Angren can spin a terrifying tale like few bands can. 2008′s Lammendam conjures up a haunting ghost story, 2010′s Death Came Through a Phantom Ship tells of a cursed ship, including tales of murders and suicides, and 2012′s Where the Corpses Sink Forever deals with the horrors of war. It will be interesting to see what theme they have decided on for this new album, and I, for one, can not wait to have a listen and delve into the darkness.

So far it has been announced that the band will enter Tidalwave studio on June 10th to begin recording with Patrick Damiani (FALKENBACH, ROME, UMBRA ET IMAGO). The album will be mixed by the legendary Peter Tägtgren. The only consistent complaint I’ve heard from fans regarding previous Carach Angren releases is the production value on earlier albums. This is a critique I personally disagree with, but the fact that Tägtgren is involved in this project should be welcomed as good news for anyone who shares that viewpoint.

We’ll be following the bands studio diaries and keeping you up to date on the progress of this sure to be killer release. In the mean time, I’ll leave you with the band’s official statement, and a couple of my favorite tracks from them.

“Our writing process is finally reaching its end and we are very excited to once again enter Tidal Wave Studio to record our fourth full length concept album! We are very much looking forward to work with our long time partner in crime Patrick Damiani, and, for the first time, with Peter Tägtgren. We can’t wait to present this monster to our fans! This will by far be the most gruesome album we have ever done — yet!”
