Devil Sold His Soul launch a new website with the promise of a new track in a week

Devil Sold His Soul - Time

Fans will likely recall the sad news that, after  nine years with the band, vocalist Ed Gibbs left British ambient post-metal band Devil Sold His Soul earlier this year. Incumbent since the group’s inception in 2004, the vacant position was nevertheless filled immediately by The Arusha Accord‘s Paul Green. With TAA being pretty much dormant since their 2009 album The Echo Verses (which was released in 2011 by Basick Records), this isn’t likely to split his attention too much (although they are currently tracking new material).

DSHS have been fairly quiet since for obvious reasons – although they did play last month’s ArcTanGent festival, of which you can read their set review here - but they have certainly been busy, with a few studio updates here and there. All this seems to be coming to a head now ahead of their imminent European headlining tour, as the group launched their new website over the weekend, along with the promise that Paul’s recorded vocal debut will be unveiled in one week’s time on September 30th with the track “Time“! Here’s what they had to say about it:

We are unbelievably happy about how it has turned out, as it holds particular meaning for us as a band, as well as personally and we hope you will feel this when you hear it. We will bring you more info on the premiere very soon. But get ready for some fresh music, which we are hugely excited for you to hear!

A slab of absolutely gorgeous artwork was also revealed as part of this announcement. We’re not sure if this is just for the track, or if perhaps “Time” is the title track for the next album, but it definitely ranks as a personal favourite piece of artwork for this year, and which feels like a tribute to Ancients‘ 2012 debut Star Showers On The Euphrates, which features DSHS guitarist Richard Chapple’s former Mahumodo bandmate Mehdi Safa on vocals.

The website itself is pretty handy, with links to their merch outlet, as well as their entire back-catalogue of musical output, video action and current tours, the latter of which will remind you that they are hitting the road from the beginning of next month on the No Remorse, No Regrets tour with We Butter The Bread With Butter (hmm…) and Palm Reader. Dates on the poster below!

Check back with us next week for “Time“, and in the meantime, here’s the video for “VIII” from Ed’s last album Empire Of Light:
