Euroblast 2015 releases the names of 10 bands already booked to play!
The Euroblast Collective certainly don’t fuck about, do they?
The last big event on the progressive music circuit – this year’s took place the first weekend of October – and they’ve decided to join in the recent spate of summer festival announcements by dropping the names of ten bands already booked to pay at next year’s event.
Talk about keen – and so should you be. The biggest names are Leprous and Devil Sold His Soul. The former of these played a very well-received set this year, whilst the latter played sister festival Tech Fest in July. Neither are a particularly big name in the tech scenes normally associated with these events, but both are becoming sort of ‘alt’ favourites; DSHS in particular just put out the absolutely gorgeous Belong ╪ Betray EP (reviewed here), and in the confines of Essigfabrik, will put on a show of certain merit.
Regular faces Aliases, David Maxim Micic (Bilo), and No Consequence will no doubt prove a big draw, as will Haken, who are one of the UK’s best true prog metal acts at the moment.
The festival will also play host to the first ever show of new project Obsydians, which is the new guise of now defunct Swiss industrial metal act Sybreed; the band’s last lineup of Thomas “Drop” Betrisey (guitars, “machines”), Kevin Choiral (drums) and Ales Campanelli (bass) remains, but promises a host of guest vocalists; presumably to combat the continuity problems experienced when permanent vocalists leave bands.
Rounding out the lineup are German alt-rock quartet The Intersphere, French groove metallers Hord, and countryman and multi-instrumentalist Igorrr - so already it’s a tastily diverse lineup, and we’ve still got ten months to go!
Euroblast Festival 11 will take place October 1st – 3rd at Essigfabrik in Cologne, Germany. Early Bird Tickets are available from the following location: http://euroblast.bigcartel.com/products
