The Haunted are back to their best with a new track from their forthcoming three-track single

The Haunted, one of Gothenburg’s most prominent melodic death metal bands, just launched their first single from their upcoming three-track single Eye Of The Storm. The new song, “Eye Of The Storm”, is the first to feature the band’s revamped lineup, which consists of founding members Jensen (Guitars) and Jonas Björler (Bass), returning members Marco Aro (Vocals) and Adrian Erlandsson (Drums), as well as new member Ola Englund (Guitars). With a fresh start and some new blood, The Haunted seem determined to return strong and touch on their past sound, which made them one of the best in the melo-death genre.

In regards to the band’s return, The Haunted’s Jensen had this to say:

“There aren’t superlatives enough to describe how much the band has longed for these three songs to be released. We are sure fans have been anxious to know what the band sounds like today after all the turmoil and old members leaving and new members joining. We feel that these three songs represent the band perfectly. We are currently working on the new album, an album that will be filled to the brim with what we know to be ‘THE HAUNTED’. We’ll start doing gigs this spring and we’ll do festivals all over the place this summer. Get in touch with the festivals you visit (and behave like an animal at) and tell them to get us on the bill! THE HAUNTED is back. Play it loud. No. Louder.”

I for one am pleased to see them return, as well as seeing Marco Aro back on vocal duties. Personally, I was never a fan of Dolving, and ever since One Kill Wonder, I fell off The Haunted bandwagon. But with Marco back in the fray, and this new song sounding like something from One Kill Wonder and “Made Me Do It”, I’m stoked to hear more. “Eye Of The Storm” is a return to their more brutal roots; a perfect blend of thrash-laden riffs and hooks, as well as those trademark melodic choruses. If this new track is any indication of what to expect from future material, than longtime fans are in for a real treat.

Eye Of The Storm will be released January 21st in North America via Century Media Records, and is available as a limited edition 7″ as well as a digital single. Pre-orders for the 7″ on black vinyl (limited to 500 copies worldwide) or white vinyl (USA exclusive; limited to 200 copies) is up now at CM Distro. Along with the new single, the band are currently working on their upcoming studio album, which is set for a summer 2014 release.
