Singer to face up to nine years in jail
News has broken that Tim Lambesis, singer for As I Lay Dying and Austrian Death Machine, has pleaded guilty to charges of solicitation to murder after it was alleged that he tried to hire a hitman to kill his wife Meggan. He faces up to nine years in jail and a $10,000 fine, plus four years parole, after accepting the prosecution’s plea deal.
This was one of the biggest shocks of last year, after Lambesis was arrested in May. It was reported that he had asked someone at his gym if they knew anyone who would kill his estranged wife, who had filed for divorce the previous year, citing an obsession with bodybuilding and irresponsible spending. The hitman turned out to be an undercover police officer.
Final sentencing is due to take place on May 2nd with Judge Carlos Armour to preside. What this means for the Grammy award-winning As I Lay Dying is unclear, but they seem to have two options now: break up, or replace Lambesis.
It was only earlier this month that Austrian Death Machine, a side project with which Lambesis is involved, announced their crownfunded album Triple Brutal will be released this April 1 via Artery Recordings, despite worries that it wouldn’t see the light of day.
