Crack open the whiskey and batter a Mars Bar; Mountains Under Oceans join the Monolithic Records family!
The bleak, magnificent highlands of Scotland are renowned worldwide, and its peaks are formidable: Ben Nevis; Braeriach; Cairn Gorm – each a devastating summit of natural beauty.
Yet it is underwater where the highest bluffs are found, stretching agelessly into yawning chasms from which light and life cannot escape.
Up from the depths (of Glasgow) rise Mountains Under Oceans, a four-piece of equal majesty. We actually covered them very recently when they played at Tech Fest 2014, so if the name seems familiar, that’s why.
Combining ambience and heaviness to create a new blend of experimental and progressive songs, their music is filled with multi-textured layers of electronic, instrumental passages and downtuned, technical riffs that will shake the very ground beneath you and send ripples across the seven seas.
We are incredibly proud to announce that Mountains Under Oceans have joined forces with Monolithic Records, and will be working together on their forthcoming releases, including the recently announced “We Built Our Castles On Moving Sand” single, which is to be released on September 30th, and evokes the likes of This Will Destroy You, …And So I Watch You From Afar and Sanchez Is Driven By Demons
Speaking on the signing, the band said:
“As a relatively new band we have been looking at how to move things forward and get to places we have never been before. In our eyes, signing with Monolithic Records is the way to do this. We feel that the professionalism and genuine interest in what we want to achieve from Monolithic is a great match for how we work. We are all very excited about this next step, and look forward to what we can do together.”
Formed in late 2012, Mountains Under Oceans wrote and rehearsed for months before heading into the studio in the summer of 2013 to record their self-titled debut EP, which was produced by former bassist Iain Macleod and released on January 31st 2014.
Since playing their first show at the end of 2013, the band have toured with and played alongside several high profile and internationally renowned acts including Intronaut, Monuments, Dead Letter Circus, Scale the Summit, Akord and more.
