Will we finally see a new Tool album this year?!
See, I told you this was the year Tool‘s new record would finally see the light of day! Sort of, anyway…
Stabs in the dark aside, and although not officially confirmed by the band, it is being reported by Crave that a fan who spoke to Tool guitarist Adam Jones at a VIP meet and greet before last night’s Portland show that the follow up to 2006′s 10,000 Days is “100% done” and will most likely be released this year.
There have been positive noises coming from various sources within and close to the legendary group for a while now: drummer Danny Carey said early last year that they would be tracking that summer, and toolband.com webmaster said later in 2013 that hey’d heard everything coming together, and that they were nearly ready for Maynard, so with standard Tool time displacement factored in, a release by year’s end is not out of the question.
It’s about time to be honest. 10,000 Days is almost 8 years old now, and whilst that’s not quite 10,000 days (it’s 2,870 today, to be exact), Tool fans are practically screaming for it now, and with the band currently on tour in the U.S., the fever pitch is only going to get more intense.
The only other details offered were that the record will use time signatures the band haven’t used before. That doesn’t leave much – djent record then?
