Bring Me The Horizon hope that you’ll Go To Hell with their new video

Bring Me The Horizon

Writing about a band that pretty much everyone else hates can be fun sometimes, especially when you actually like them. Ladies and gentlefolk, Bring Me The Horizon have one of the worst reputations in the metal industry for being entitled, misogynistic assholes (to put it nicely), and hell, they may be that, but they also make great music!

Their 2013 post hardcore release, Sempiternal is a roaring, anthemic record that is easily one of my favourites of the year. It’s an incredible album that contains so much power and impact across its relatively short running time. A lot of this is due in part to the refined vocal performance from infamous personality void Oli Sykes. The Bring Me The Horizon frontman may not have improved his attitude, but he has clearly worked hard on his vocals, allowing him to reach new expressive heights. His work on Sempiternal sounds like a hodgepodge of peak-era Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) fused with a ferocious hardcore vocalist. Some of the vocal delivery on this album is frankly, jaw breaking, and incredibly moving, such as in the climax of “Empire (Let My Sing)” (my favourite track from the album), which just gets me unbelievably pumped every single time.

To celebrate their recent Warped tour stint, the band have released a video for the track “Go To Hell For Heaven’s Sake“, one of the safer, but still good, anthemic tracks from Sempiternal. This video is comprised of random Bring Me The Horizon footage captured at Warped Tour, though the weird part of it is, none of the footage actually fits with the song, meaning that basically, you get to see random clips of Bring Me The Horizon shuffle about on stage while one of their song plays in the background. If that’s what you’re looking for, then the band have clearly catered to your unique and slightly strange sensibilities, but for everyone else this may be a slightly strange release. Oh well, it gives you all another opportunity to tell me how wrong I am for liking this band. Have at it!

What do you guys think? Do you actually dig Sempiternal as well? Do you hate the band because of their personalities? Is this a worthwhile video, or a strange addition? Sound off in the comments!
