Chronographs reveal second video from Nausea EP over the weekend

The Chronographs machine rumbles on! After releasing their label debut EP Nausea to the world back in January, the British quintet have been working hard touring and promoting the record.

To that effect, the band have released a new video for “Veritas“, the second track from the EP (a video for opener “Opticks” was released back in December). It’s another performance video, all in a high-contrast black and white format, but this time interspersed with an arty NSFW performance from a topless ballet dancer waving her arms around (I’m sure there’s a more technical term for it but I’ll be blowed if I know it).

The live footage comes from the band’s set a month ago at Ghostfest, the festival run by their label Ghost Music.

Veritas was the Roman goddess of truth, and was classically an elusive character – much like the trait she embodies – although she was fond of hiding in the bottom of a holy well where she could not be found without considerable expense in time and purpose. Sounds a bit crazy to me, but the truth often is.

The theme is certainly taken up in the lyrics, with frontman Jon Sinfield crooning:

[quote-symbol symbol1]I have seen weaker men than you inhale the truth and walk away, so breathe deep and allow yourself to change.

Jon’s vocals are often a highlight of the band, and although this isn’t my favourite track from the EP (read my review here), it’s still pretty strong.

The track also features a guest vocal spot from Liam Kavanagh of Bristolian band Burials towards the end.

The band are currently part-booked for a slew of European dates with Honour Is Dead next month, as well as a confusing array of festival dates which are discussed (along with a bunch of other entertaining stuff) in our interview with them, conducted a few weeks ago at UK Tech-Metal Fest!
