Circa Survive drop new video for Descensus track 2
Hopefully you’re all familiar with this song already – why wouldn’t you, when I named Descensus as one of the 10 very best of 2014 – but if you haven’t, then now is your chance.
Circa Survive are one of the very best rock bands around at the moment. I don’t mean this in some sort of uberfan, oh em gee kind of way; it’s just the truth. There’s a lot to be gleaned from the surface of the music, but even if it doesn’t float your boat, you have to admit that they do some really clever things compositionally, and the raw emotion that seeps through every facet is tangible; you could almost plate it up.
The band today dropped a video for “Child Of The Desert“, the second track from the record. Here it is:
This song is just one example of the genius. It’s one of those song that builds and builds, giving clues that something big is going to drop, but not the true nature of it – and the riff at the summit of the song is orgasmic. I remember hearing it in a teaser before the album was released and being really intrigued by it, but I didn’t expect it to come at the end of this particular tune.
I’m actually still due a review of this bastard; smack my ass and call me Slowpoke, but it will be done. In the meantime, watch this video a few times, then do the same with “Schema“.
Descensus is out now via Sumerian Records. Circa have been out touring a fair bit since October, but there was a massive hint that more dates are to be announced on Tuesday. I really really really hope there are UK shows as part of that; we didn’t get them during the last album cycle, and I know we’d give them a good welcome.
