Swedish post-rock group capture live video for “Lake Vaettern“
In a world of Explosions In The Skies, Godspeeds and This Will Destroy Yous, there’s sometimes not a lot of room for finding great new post-rock – at least for me, anyway. If I want to be carried away on a wave of emotion, I stick on Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada. If I want melancholy, I head for Balmorhea’s Constellations. If I want bombast, I’ll probably stick on something by Sigur Rós.
There’s always space though, and you should really find some space for Swedish quintet Ef.
I came across them through their 2010 affiliation with shelsmusic, one of our favourite labels ever. They released Mourning Golden Morning through them that year, and it’s a really stunning album.
They’ve since released two more, including last year’s triumphant Ceremonies. On the subject of which, they’ve just released a live studio session recorded at Ghost City Recordings Studio in Nuremberg, Germany, and it displays just why they are one of the finest products of Swedish indie music since Jeniferever. Check it out:
Ef are out on tour later this month around Europe, having done quite a lot of touring last year as well, and with much more to be announced, so don’t worry if you can’t get out to any of these dates:
