New White Moth Black Butterfly video gets down with nature
A few months ago White Moth Black Butterfly, the solo project from Skyharbor/ex-TesseracT vocalist Dan Tompkins, released the first full taster of what it is about with “Certainty“, which Quigs picked up on here. He wasn’t a massive fan of it, but WMBB is definitely more up my street, and this new track/video “The World Won’t Sleep” only solidifies that.
Continuing the outdoorsy feel of the last video, ”The World Won’t Sleep” is a montage of serene autumnal shots (rather than following Dan around the moors as “Certainty” did), accompanied by WMBB’s stripped-back electronic soundscape. Directed by Roy Warner, it all fits together rather well, and there are touches of Sigur Rós and Nine Inch Nails throughout. The song also features a guest spot from Shadowboxer‘s Hayley Martin, who is amongst a number of collaborators to feature on the forthcoming full-length One Thousand Wings, including former bandmate Acle Kahney of TesseracT.
The tracklisting for that is as follows!
03. Ties of Grace
04. The World Won’t Sleep
06. Midnight Rivers
07. Tired Eyes
Excitingly for fans, WMBB are due to hit the road next month for a few dates – including the album release show Upstairs at the Garage in London on November 7th, as well as a couple more in Guilford and Mansfield – and will involve producer and Skyharbor bandmate Keshav Dhar on guitars/electronics, Chris Haywood on bass/contrabass, and Ben Ansaldo on drums as the live lineup, and whilst this is about as far removed from metal as you can get – I mean hey, just peep all the nature in the two videos – Tompkins is always a treat, and so this will be worth a watch. Heights, Agent and Polar Caps will be joining them there in lieu of the aforementioned Shadowboxer, who had to drop out of the dates, so should any of those tickle your fancy too, get your tickets here.
One Thousand Wings will be self-released on November 11th.
