Zoax premiere video from new EP
Man, next year is looking pretty good already. Sylosis‘ Dormant Heart; Periphery‘s double Juggernauts; there’s one coming from Napalm Death, The Agonist in February, and Cancer Bats in March.
My eye’s distinctly closer to home, however: London quintet Zoax announced their second EP Is Everybody Listening? last week, and with barely a blink, debuted a new song called “Lonely Souls” on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show on Saturday.
If you didn’t manage to catch it, you’re in luck, because Kerrang! are premiering a video for the track today.
Frontman Adam Carroll said of the video:
“This was easily the most fun I’ve had shooting a video. More fun obviously though for the rest of the band, who got to spend the day throwing the items. Actually come to think of it, it wasn’t that fun for me. But I did get a can of Guinness out of it.”
It’s immediately apparent that the song puts more of Adam’s range into play. He screams, shouts, croons and uses a high falsetto as the song’s mood shifts. Some sections are buzzsaw-sharp punk, showcasing the energy which infects their live performance, whilst others are soft and melodic, taking on an almost new Glassjaw-y feel.
It’s a great start for EP 2. Are You Listening? will be released 9th February through Century Media Records.
