Here’s another new tune from Mutoid Man’s debut LP!
It’s funny how side projects tend to get so exciting that artists work on them as often as they do their ‘main’ bands. This certainly seems to be the case with the members of Mutoid Man, who will next month release their debut LP Bleeder, just over 18 months after their debut EP Helium Head came out. This isn’t so odd, but their other bands haven’t released anything in the meantime.
Nevertheless, messrs Koller (Converge) and Brodsky (Cave In), alongside bassist Nick Cageao, are pressing forward with the hype train for the new record, and have just unveiled a second song from it, about a month on from dropping “Sweet Ivy“. This one’s called “Reptilian Soul“, and goes a little something like this:
Reptilian overlords be praised, this is good! Crackling with the kind of energy you’d expect from 20 year-olds, the track hurtles at a tremendous paces thanks to Koller’s drums. As ever, it’s like the most beautiful meld of Converge and Cave In, with all the aggression of the former, tempered by the unique vocals of Brodsky – who can scream when he wants, but prefers not to these days. There’s a genius vocal midsection where he wails in increasing pitch that is exactly the kind of reason why supergroups like these should exist, and more importantly, why we’re so glad Mutoid Man’s output is so rapid.
Bleeder is to be released via Sargent House on June 30th. Mutoid Man have a few dates scheduled for the summer, including a run with The Dillinger Escape Plan next month! Full details below:
