Mutoid Man tease forthcoming album with new track
Mutoid Man, the brain-melting supergroup featuring members of Massachusettsan heavyweights Cave In and Converge, are rolling into gear for the release of their debut LP. Steve Brodsky, Ben Koller and Nick Cageao have been teasing the release since late last year, which will follow their 2013 debut EP Helium Head, but we’ve now got concrete evidence of the album’s progress, as the trio have released a new song – and it’s a banger.
“Sweet Ivy“, the record’s third track, sounds a little like this:
I’ve been in love with Brodsky’s voice since Cave In’s Perfect Pitch Black was released almost ten years ago, and he uses it here in a similar fashion, so I’m already in love. The main riff – the intro section in particular – is oh so sweet (aptly), but is often carried by the bass too, causing a pleasing doubling effect: simple but effective.
It’s over far too quickly – only three minutes – so it’s the perfect teaser I guess.
The album itself will be titled Bleeder, and will comprise of ten tracks, running thusly:
02. Reptilian Soul
03. Sweet Ivy
04. 1000 Mile Stare
07. Dead Dreams
08. Soft Spot in My Skull
