Hot off the back of the new album announcement, Animals As Leaders premier new song “Tooth And Claw”
It was only yesterday we recapped the weekend’s news that Sumerian band Animals As Leaders are to release their new album The Joy Of Motion this March. Well, whadda ya know; a few days later, and we’ve got the first official song!
It’s called “Tooth And Claw” – aaaaand that’s about as much as we know about it. No standing within the album, no concept, and no further details about who was involved in writing it exactly (given that both Periphery‘s Misha Mansoor and Diego Farias of Volumes had a hand in a number of songs, along with AAL’s band members themselves.
Anydiddles; here it is:
I did mention yesterday that I’m not exactly the band’s biggest fan, because I’m rather picky about my instrumental music, and I also think in the past they’ve tended to sacrifice songwriting in lieu of showing how good at playing their instruments they are (which they can do very well, to be fair). “Tooth And Claw” ain’t half bad though. I do wonder if Mansoor’s hand had anything to do with it, as he’s a canny songwriter and more than qualified to advise re: cutting the chaff.
