Dans Weller and Tompkins ramp up In Colour project with new song
Dan Tompkins isn’t one for resting on his laurels; he simply doesn’t have time. We know from recent updates that the production of the second Skyharbor album is now well underway, and that a new White Moth Black Butterfly video has also been shot.
And if that wasn’t enough, it is clear that after a relatively long gestation period, Dan’s pop collaboration with SikTh‘s Dan Weller and more, In Colour, are also shifting up a gear or two.
We popped along to see their first ever London show not too long ago, and now they have announced a further short run of four dates in April, as well as releasing a brand new track into the wild via their Soundcloud called “The Mess We’re In.”
The sole previously released In Colour track “Listen For The Rain” was a quiet and gentle number, but “The Mess We’re In” is considerably more uptempo. It is unabashedly poppy, but – as one would now expect – exceptionally well-crafted and played with a passion and enthusiasm that practically leaks out of the speakers.
Have a listen:
In a nutshell, In Colour is music made by tech-metal luminaries that you can still play to your mum without it ripping her face off. And your nan. And their pets. If you place a higher premium on quality songwriting than on demented shrieking and fretboard blizzards, checking out In Colour should be very close to the top of your to-do list.
Those live dates are somewhat spread out across next month, but they look like this:
Thu 3 Apr – The Anvil, Bournemouth
Fri 4 Apr – Intake, Mansfield
Mon 14 Apr – Barfly, London
Sat 19 Apr – The Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
Tickets are £6 in advance, which is a bargain, and can be picked up from here.
