Hear snippets of four tracks from the new Decapitated album!

Decapitated - Blood Mantra album art

Something of a sore thumb amongst my normally lighter, proggier and more post-corey musical taste is Polish death metal band Decapitated. Particularly since I saw them in February 2012, but certainly since Carnival Is Forever was released, they’ve filled a large section of my firey deathball requirement with aplomb. They’re breathless, relentless, and more than capable of delivering the sweaty goods to your door, packaged in sandpaper and with a swift kick to the genitals.

Their new album Blood Mantra is not so far off now – we’re talking end of the month – and whilst we’ve heard one tune already – “The Blasphemous Psalm To The Dummy Creation God” – label Nuclear Blast today unveiled a choppy preview of three more tracks, cut around sections of that first one:

As well as ”The Blasphemous Psalm To The Dummy Creation God“, which is the second track on the record, there are also bits of 1, 3 and 4: “Exiled In Flesh“, “Veins” and “Blood Mantra“. Sounds really great from what we can hear; the opener thrums with menace and has some fairly cool, simple riffs going on. “Veins” didn’t grab me hugely, but the title track has some nice drum work going on, which trades off nicely with the guitars.

Founding guitarist Vogg said of the record a couple of months ago:

“Extreme and groove – I think that’s the best way to describe our new album. This time we feel that we have something totally crushing and huge. ‘Blood Mantra’ is the most heavy and mature album we ever did in our career. I cannot wait to start to play songs live because riffs are so deep and powerful.”

Blood Mantra will be out September 26th in Europe, September 29th in the UK and September 30th in North America through Nuclear Blast! Pre-orders are up through the label here. The band are playing at Summer Dying Loud festival this weekend in Poland, and will then be touring North America in support of GWAR in October…
