Entombed A.D. unveil first new single from delayed album
For fans of legendary act Entombed it has been a long wait – 7 years since their last release, in fact.
During that time there have been some changes made. Original members Alex Hellid (guitar) and Ulf Cederlund (guitar) will be performing under the Entombed name along with frontman Orvar Säfström.
Meanwhile, LG Petrov (vocals) has joined forces with Nico Elgstrand (guitar), Victor Brandt (bass) and Olle Dahlstedt (drums), and the latter group will continue on under the moniker Entombed A.D.
This situation has caused some debate among fans. The lineup featuring Hellid and Cederlund has generated some excitement among those hoping for new material along the lines of the classic Entombed album Left Hand Path - even though they have not announced any plans to release a new album. For the time being those aforementioned fans will have to keep dreaming.
The Petrov fronted group, however, has a brand new album on the way this year. Entombed A.D. recently released the first single from the upcoming full length and it does not disappoint. It’s called “Bedlam Attack” and is taken from the album titled Back To The Front, which was originally slated for release on October 29, 2013 but was delayed. The new release date is August 5th via Century Media Records.
As for the track itself, I wasn’t kidding when I said it doesn’t disappoint. Petrov’s vocals are as ireful as ever and the gang vocals during the chorus parts are a nice touch. The main guitar riff during the first half of the song is simple yet very catchy. It was stuck on an endless loop in my brain for a good few hours after first listening. This riff is replaced by an equally infectious line for the latter half of the track. The drums and bass do an efficient job of tying everything together. Overall I feel this is a great listen and only helps to build the anticipation for the full length. Take a listen to “Bedlam Attack” below and let us know what you think!
