Swedish titans Meshuggah confirmed as Euroblast: The Ninth Coming headliners
Euroblast Festival, one of the best prog-metal festivals in Europe right now, has announced the final piece of its lineup jigsaw with the news that Swedish pioneers Meshuggah will headlining the entire thing – which, let’s face it, is pretty massive. Although the festival is technically in its ninth iteration, most of the early ones were one-day affairs (only the last two were held across multiple days), and it’s actually only been going since 2008, so this is quite a coup for the organisers.
The announcement comes off the back of weeks of new announcements, and the lineup is now an absolute wet dream for progheads, but with a lot of other cool stuff thrown in as well. Textures and The Ocean provide more European meat in the other headlining slots, and then there are some other really interesting acts such as French cinematic metal band Hypno5e (who are much better than the numerical digit in their name might suggest), dub-metal rising stars The Algorithm, and UK Tech-Metal Fest show-stealers Xerath.
As we mentioned yesterday, Australians Twelve Foot Ninja (who are joined from down under by Circles), Skyharbor and Ever Forthright are on tour together in the run-up (which we’re sponsoring!), and are all winging their way from the far corners of the globe, along with a few other American bands such as The Agonist and The Omega Experiment (and there’s a bunch of Canadians too, now we think of it).
Euroblast will take place between October 11th and 13th, with full days of music as well as the obligatory “after-parties”. We’re pretty much already there in spirit, so make sure to look out for us. We’re also compiling a full preview for the festival, vis-a-vis our UK Tech-Metal Fest ones, so keep an eye out!
