Listen to The Ongoing Concept’s deliciously devilish “Soul

The Ongoing Concept - Handmade album art

Hot damn, we’re a bit excited for this new The Ongoing Concept album. DIY in almost every sense, the Handmade cycle has seen the Idaho outfit construct a whole set of new instruments, set and film their own music video (whilst in it), and generally work themselves to the bone to realise their concept as fully as possible. It’s impressive from a logistical standpoint, if nothing else.

But thankfully, the music coming out of them has also been top notch. From the initial teaser to recent video Unwanted, their new work is building on the solid foundation they already had, and it looks like this could be a sleeper hit of the year. Either way, they definitely warrant a look and a listen.

In order to facilitate that, there’s another new track: this one’s called “Soul“, and can be streamed below.

Mixing their swinging, saloon-music style with the tenets of post-hardcore, the song deals with that age-old southern American (ironic, given they’re about as north as you can get in the States) trope of selling your soul to the devil, vis-a-vis the late, great Robert Johnson. Great stuff.

Handmade comes out June 16th through Solid State Records. The Ongoing Concept began a tour in support yesterday with Dayseeker and Outlands. The remaining dates are as follows:
