In the never ending struggle to stand out, Utah hardcore weirdos The Ongoing Concept have come up with what has to be one of the coolest teasers of all time to introduce one of the coolest concepts for an album I’ve heard of in a long time, in which…well, we’ll let them tell you:
Building a drum kit from scratch is pretty impressibe, but apparently they are doing this for all of the instruments on the album, which surely makes the record – to be titled Handmade – the one that most closely lives up to its name (as opposed to Sonata Arctica‘s Silence, which is filled with sound). Hopefully we’ll see teasers like this for all instruments because this looks really interesting.
If you aren’t familiar with The Ongoing Concept, I wholeheartedly recommend their 2013 album Saloon, which is really fun and sounds like a blend of Horse The Band, The Venetia Fair and The Chariot. Their music videos are always very entertaining, as is their YouTube channel as a whole to be honest (Parkour With Parker amused me through all of its 13 awkward episodes). One of the best is for “Cover Girl“.
Handmade will be released June 16th via Solid State Records. They’re due to play a very short tour with Icarus The Owl in early May, and maybe some more after that in support? Who knows. Here are the dates:
May 6th: Spokane WA @ The Pin
May 7th: Portland OR @ Analog Cafe
May 8th: Seattle WA @ El Corazon
