Scale The Summit are very well regarded around The Monolith; their instrumental prog post-rock hitting all the right notes in a seamless melody of mountain-climbing majesty. 2011′s The Collective was quite frankly a stunning release, and garnered the band a lot of attention, despite already having released an album – Carving Desert Canyons - via label Prosthetic Records in 2009. They’ve toured with the likes of Between the Buried and Me, Periphery, Fair To Midland, Protest The Hero, Cynic and The Human Abstract to name but a few. That’s a pretty diverse roster, and it’s testament to how this band can fit just about anywhere on a bill, thanks to their being so fantastic.

Not content to rest on their laurels, and after an equally busy year of touring, guitarist Chris Letchford revealed that they’ve now begun work on a new album, which will be the first with new bassist Mark Michell (formerly of Tetrafusion), who joined the band in April this year.

This announcement comes off the back of a series of very well made playthrough videos, featuring each of the members performing a different song (minus drummer Pat Skeffington, so far). What follows is a selection, but you can find a ton on their YouTube channel.

Scale The Summit recently completed a tour with Trioscapes, but we’re pretty dern confident they’ll be back on the road in the non-too-distant future!
