Statues 2016

You may recall just before Christmas that our favourite Aussie bangers Statues unveiled their new lineup as well as a swell Christmas card drive in order to give away a new song that wasn’t available on general release.

Now that all the early adopters have given the tune a few spins, the guys are releasing the song for the rest of the world, and we’re pleased to be premiering “Dogswamp” for you today!

Warps your ears around this slab of granite:

As the new guys, vocalist Alex and drummer Matthew have the spotlight on them, but prove excellent foils for the remaining band members. Scott and John’s pacey, hyper-aggressive riffs hit right from the off, and almost shine with menace. Matthew’s drumming is brisk and bright, whilst Matthew Templeman’s bass adds a pleasing twang to the mix in making itself heard. Alex continues where Jim left off, practically screaming down the mic – a fantastic replacement by all accounts.

It’s a breathless four minutes, but four minutes well spent, and bodes well for whatever comes next from these chaps.

Make sure to follow the band on Facebook (they’re really close to 10,000 followers!) and please check out their fantastic debut album Together We’re Alone (which we reviewed here), with everything available via their Bandcamp!
