The Dillinger Escape Plan announce new album details and artwork
So sayeth seminal New Jerseyan mathcore band The Dillinger Escape Plan in “Farewell Mona Lisa“, the opening track to their 2010 album Option Paralysis.- and now, almost three years later, we learn that the title of the band’s forthcoming fifth album is One of Us Is The Killer. Coincidence? Are DEP going conceptual? We’re not sure, but there’s an outside possibility for sure.
Last Monday the band indicated to their fans on Facebook that they should “start paying attention now”, which of course got everyone rather excited in the pantal department. Friday then saw a post that simply said “Monday” – and that being today, the world has been granted a glimpse into to band’s hotly anticipated new record.
Further details are scant right now, other than the news that One Of Us Is The Killer will be out in May through their own Party Smasher Inc. imprint, in conjunction with Sumerian Records. The majority was recorded southern California with the ever-steady Steve Evetts, with whom the band have been working for a long time, with mastering due be handled by Deftones, Nine Inch Nails and Beastie Boys engineer Tom Baker. It would be hard to go wrong with those two.
This is clearly a new period of productivity for the band, as the announcement stated:
This band simply do not sit still, so it’s clear the past three years have been spent doing more than just touring, dating ex-pornographic actresses and experiencing mind-bending, hallucinogenic near death experiences, and despite losing guitarist Jeff Tuttle amicably along the way, they’re surely as strong as ever. In fact, not content with teasing all and sundry, the band also announced a raft of new tour dates across North America and Scandinavia for their legendary explosive live show, which are being entered into the events calendar as we speak.
Expect more details in the coming weeks, including track listing, official release date, and we’re sure a new tune or two in the build up. Pretty excited.
