Did The Dillinger Escape Plan lose some kind of wager?

Holy snuff-film on a Tuesday, Batman! The Dillinger Escape Plan, New Jersey’s premiere mathcore export, have unleashed the video for their new song “When I Lost My Bet” – and it’s a graphic ride, I’ll tell you that for free.

Not the first video this year to be framed like some kind of horror film, “When I Lost My Bet” is violent, weird, and scary – highlights include Greg Puciato’s blood-caked lips screaming through some kind of glory hole, a bearded man getting seven bells punched out of him, creepy eyeless dudes engaging in some light intestinal play, and the apparent evisceration of either a swan or an angel. I think I even see a cameo from Frances The Mute or one of TesseracT‘s sinister “Eden 2.0” operatives.

There’s a repeated drumbeat in there that reminds me so strongly of Glassjaw‘s “Gold“, but that aside it’s all Dillinger; frenetic, spastic, and bursting with rage. Check it out:

This is, of course, all in aid of One Of Us Is The Killer, The Dillinger Escape Plan’s forthcoming fifth studio album, which will be out on May 14th worldwide through the band’s own Party Smasher inc. imprint, working in conjunction with Sumerian Records.

The band are currently right at the beginning of their first headline U.S. tour in quite some time, travelling with tech-death outfit The Faceless and more rock-oriented troupe Royal Thunder, and the dates are all available in the events calendar.

They’ll also be headlining Summer Slaughter this year, along with Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Norma Jean, Cattle Decapitation, our subjects of the week The Ocean, Revocation, Aeon, and popular vote winners Rings Of Saturn - although a confirmed full run for that is not yet available.
