The Dillinger Escape Plan to tour the States with The Faceless and Royal Thunder this Spring
After more than a little teasing, Morris Plains mathcore act The Dillinger Escape Plan announced last week the title and artwork for their new album One Of Us Is The Killer. It’s the first release since 2010′s Option Paralysis, which continued the band’s evolution from screaming fury to sometimes melodic screaming fury, and cemented their chops as adepts of melody as well as technicality.
Since then they’ve lost long-time guitarist Jeff Tuttle (it must be hard playing second fiddle to Ben Weinman, axe wizard and only remaining founding member), but it doesn’t seem to have slowed down the savvy businessmen, who have their own label imprint of sorts – Party Smasher Inc. – and seem to have the promotion/social media thing nailed (to a tree, with an arrow-pierced apple on its head). Frontman Greg Puciato in particular is a renowned force on Twitter, and the band also utilise Instagram to interact with fan. So, a week on from the album reveal, the next piece of important news has hit in the form of a tour announcement.
The late April-mid May trek will take in the U.S. only at this point, and the band will be taking along tech-metal act The Faceless, who recently had to postpone a UK tour with The Safety Fire, as well as Relapse Records rockers Royal Thunder. It promises to be a great show – The Dillinger Escape Plan are undeniably one of the most energetic frenetic and entertaining live shows out there, with band members climbing staging and lighting rigs, whilst Puciato has been known to bring his fire-breathing skills to bear on numerous occasions. Full details are, as ever, in our events calendar, which y’all need to get using because it’s a fantastic tool, but we can tell you it begins on April 22nd in Lancaster, PA at the Chameleon Club.
Make sure to follow The Dillinger Escape Plan on Facebook for their clockwork-like updates – although we will of course be keeping you in the loop for this hotly anticipated release, which is due out this Spring through Party Smasher Inc./Sumerian Records.
