As you cans see from the lovely poster above, Californian tech-death quintet The Faceless were due to hit the UK’s wintry shores tomorrow for an eleven-date tour with British natives The Safety Fire – but they have unfortunately had to cancel the dates (for the time being anyway) due to visa issues.
In a statement posted through their Facebook page, they explained that they had not been granted work permits, and as such they would be unable to make it over legally. Massive bummer, basically. This looked like an excellent run out, especially having brought aboard an excellent band like The Safety Fire, who can seemingly do no wrong at the moment, but unfortunately it seems that fans will be disappointed. Even if/when the tour is rescheduled, there will be plenty of fans out of pocket who have pre-paid for travel arrangements.
Possibly related, but not necessarily, is the news that the band have just confirmed – also via Facebook - Ordinance/ex-The HAARP Machine drummer Alex Rudinger as the replacement for Lyle Cooper, their former skinsman of five years who left the band last week. It was reported just before the weekend that Rudinger had left The HAARP Machine – along with vocalist Mike Semesky and bassist Ollie Rooney – over irreconcilable differences with the guitarist, but it hasn’t taken him long to get a new post. Whether or not this has affected the band’s work permits is unknown – perhaps they couldn’t get one for him in time – but they wouldn’t have been able to perform without a drummer anyway, so I’m not sure what could have been done if this was the case.
We’re pretty sure this will be rescheduled at some point, so we’ll be sure to keep you updated. If you’re looking for something else to whet your whistle in the vacuum, check out our events calendar!
