the monolith last post

Ah, another week down, and bloody hell, we’re in March! How did that happen?

Bit of a short day today, and a fairly quiet week as far as major stuff went, but that’s how it goes sometimes. Here’s a rundown of what happened:

The rule of three struck again as Machine Head, The Ocean and Dark Tranquility all lost bassists in one fashion or another.
Jane talked gender roles in relation to Jennifer Lawrence and Jack Nicholson at the Oscars.
We found some awesome new music in the shape of prog from Oceans Of Slumber, oddness from Pryapisme, scariness from Primitive Man, bluegrass from Blood & Banjos and black metal magic from Cultes Des Ghouls. We’re getting the feeling that this is what we should be doing more of, so prepare your buttholes, okay?
I got entirely too excited about The Ocean’s new website previewing their new album Pelagial. Seriously; the design is fuckin’ cool.
I spent quite a lot of time adding stuff to the events calendar. It’s looking a lot healthier these days, don’t you think?
We wanted your opinions on how we’re doing, and how we could do better. We’re only a few months in, but we’ve got big plans in the coming months, so we’d like to get as many of you as possible to enjoy your time here so you can all make the most of that.
As a result, we started doing more stuff over at our Facebook page. You guys responded in kind, and it was really heartwarming to get to talk to you. We hope more of you get involved, as we’ll definitely be keeping this up!

Have a great weekend, and see you on the flip-side folks!
