The Monolith humbly seeks to become the first port of call on the internet for everything related to heavy metal and its musical bedfellows. We are the vanguard of a new way for the scene – but don’t take our word for it. We have much to offer you, Pledges.
Based in the UK, but with a large, experienced staff spanning across North America and Europe, we are primarily focussed on aiding and assisting the entire independent music scene. We’re the online publication that is actively taking steps towards uniting people in a tight, global community. Whether you are a fan, a label, a musician, an artist, management, PR, photographer, cat, dog, hamster or sentient toaster, there is a place for you here.
As well as a webzine, which will display what we believe to be some of the best and most considered content around, we also have a number of extra, innovative features. We’ve already begun to work extra hard to integrate one of our primary MOs: innovation through collaboration. This is important to us. We want to make reading about metal fun and interesting again. We can’t be bothered with slagging off obvious targets, just as you’re no doubt tired of reading it.
So, features: first up, our community of members. As an ‘Acolyte’ – a term about which you have been teased these past weeks – YOU, will be the foundation of our site. The Monolith isn’t about us telling you what’s what; this is about you engaging with us, and creating discussion between all of the above listed parties. You don’t even have to talk to us if you don’t want to; you can lock us in the dungeons and talk amongst yourselves should you wish – we’re not fussy.
We’re incredibly proud of the site and consider it our home. We hope you guys come to feel the same. We’re a social enterprise, so all of the support you guys give us allows us to grow and be in a better position to execute all of our great ideas. We seek to innovate this scene and increase harmony and connectivity in the community. Support you provide to us helps us make changes for the better. Support independent music! Let it live long and proud!
One last thing; for those of you who have followed us in the build up to launch, we have been giving away a TON of great prizes. Well, we aren’t going to stop there as if you become an Acolyte this weekend you’ll get a free download of our splash page track “Conquer/Collapse” AND you’ll stand a chance in winning a digi-pack of Sylosis‘ new album, aptly titled Monolith. The winners of the other prizes will be announced in the last post of today, so keep checking back to see if you’re one of the lucky ones!
Enjoy the site.
